It's Giving Tuesday! We are raising money for CCBF's nutrition services! Food donations, local community gardens and the Carondelet Food Patch allow us to provide fresh produce, meat, milk, bread and other food at our pantry on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays to St. Louis city families in need. Please consider a donation to continue our services. If you can put together a food drive or want to volunteer, please contact us!
Meet your neighbors!
Nextdoor is the private social network for you, your neighbors and your Carondelet community. It's the easiest way for you and your neighbors to talk online and make all of your lives better in the real world. And it's free.
CCBF is a 501c3 Charitable Organization. Your tax-deductible donation allows CCBF to continue its food pantry, home repair, Outreach services and more!
We'd like to introduce you to Laura Gatlin! Laura is the steward of the Carondelet Food Patch little orchard in St. Louis, Missouri. This food patch is a community orchard/garden.
Volunteers sustainably and inclusively lead it. They believe that everyone should have access to fresh vegetables and produce. The food grown is available to anyone.
As a nurse and outdoors lover, Laura was inspired by many of the hungry neighbors in her community and felt compelled to do something about it.
The orchard was planted in 2019 and will not be ready for harvest for another two years, but already it is making an impact in her community. “It's not an empty field anymore filled with junk trees. It's a space where people can walk through the trees, learn about them, harvest from them, and go home and make something. And pulling weeds is great stress relief.”
